Dremel I've had for 30+ years finally gave up the ghost, this is a modern update, same tool but much better. Hope it will last as long. While this will not be a tool you use all the time, there are really countless ways to use it. So many times I have worked around it, but this tool has made many jobs much easier and it has saved me money on a few projects that I know would have cost significantly more if I had shopped it out to a repair service. Great tool, versatile, powerful, light weight... don't hesitate.I bought this because I had some hedge trimmers that needed sharpening. Using a hand-file seemed like it would take forever, but I watched a video of a guy using his Dremel instead and knew that was the solution for me! I'm sure in time I will use some of the other attachments, but this little gem helped me sharpen those trimmers in about 15 minutes. Excellent! Can't go wrong with the name brand. The heads on these attachments have lasted at least 3 months.Unfortunately, I'm not very handy, so I didn't understand how to adjust the collet that came with this Dremel until after I went to Home Depot and purchased the multi chuck. I'm actually glad I purchased the chuck anyway, because it's going to be so much easier to switch out accessories! The tool is great, I’ve worked with it pretty well tooLots of good accessories for the priceComes with everything I needed. Using it to help in refinishing furniture. Not sure why I waited so long to buy this… saves hours of sanding time and sooo much easier. Worth every penny. It's a basic Dremel. The quality is okay at best. I've had two of this model, the internal fan on the first one melted and seized to the housing inside, not covered by warranty. The variable speed switch on both is iffy, it doesn't always get to full speed, and often time varies its speed while in use (without moving the switch).I have a 25 year old Dremel that's better quality. If you don't use it for long periods or too hard they're fine, but not suited for hard work. I basically only use this one for sharpening chainsaw chains. This is a great drill for small projects. I make jewellery and this is the drill I need to drill sea glass, plus so many other things. I am very happy I bought this item, The drill comes in a great unbreakable case with a number of attachment added to start with.I highly recommend it to buyers who need just this drill. That being said. I also bought the Dremel Drill Stand from Amazon. The stand gives you much more stabilization and an extra hand.Amazon has many Dremel attachments and items for this drill.Thank you Amazon and Dremel for this drill. This is my second dremel after I burnt the first one out after about 15 years of use. I am very happy with it and I am glad I bought it. It came with a good selection of tools. The slider switch style of speed control works well and gives me the variations of speed I need. Between my old dremel and this one I had bought a Rotozip which is more geared for construction purposes as it only has "light speed" as its only option - great for construction but not fine work which is probably why I burnt out the first dremel even with all the abuse I put it through. The variable speed dremel is more useful when careful control is needed. And that is what I am using it for now.Doesn't spin at the lowest setting any more, had for less than 3 months. On speed setting 2 it just won't spin any more for some reason, I've barely used it.Edit: After doing some reading online it seems that this model in particular has problems with the variable speed switch. I've barely used the thing so I can say with confidence that it's not from wear and tear. I've also noticed the bushings are wearing really fast. I guess I shouldn't be surprised this thing is on sale, you get what you pay for. Next time I'm just going to buy a cheap rotary tool off aliexpress or ebay, that way if something goes wrong I'll know why.The collet nut is on so tight it won't come off. Tried pushing a bit into the collet as suggested in the manual, but it wouldn't go in. Waited too long to get around to using it so I'm now 3 weeks past the last day for returning it. Lesson learned.
