I was totally surprised when I received this new pad. Just like the original. Works perfect. Three screws out, three screws in. Done.I have ordered multiples of this item over the years (1-2 a year) because the nature of the hook/loop system for sanding pads lends itself wearing out. Replacements are cheap enough I don't get anxious letting my kids and wife use it for projects that inevitably get the sandpaper seated wrong and the hook on the pad being used as sandpaper on occasion, haha. That said, this latest replacement arrived damaged in a manner that severely shortens its already short life expectancy. I attached some photos showing the packaging damage (red flag that caused me to look closer and open it up to inspect further) and the melted/worn spot on the edge of the disc. It looks like this one got trapped and rubbed smooth at some point in the manufacture/shipping life. In all honesty, if it was in the middle of the pad, away from the edge it wouldn't be all that big a deal, but being right on the edge I know from experience will be a pain to deal with. Whether this QC is now the norm, or is random bad luck is tough to tell now. I will try getting this one replaced and see what I end up with!worked great! So in a fit of absentmindedness, I thought I had a sanding disc on my orbital sander, when in fact, I was using the bare pad. "Funny," I said to myself, "this doesn't seem to be sanding very well. And it's leaving black smudges everywhere!" This is how I destroyed the velcro on the original sander pad.I opted for this cheaper replacement part (it was something like half the price of a genuine Makita pad.) It was easy to install, discs now actually stay on my random orbital sander without the use of double sided tape, and I'm happy. One difference - the base seems much firmer than the original pad, which had a nice spongy feel. This is making it much more aggressive when rounding over corners and edges, so a lighter touch is needed and a star is lost.Fits perfectly on my Makita orbital sander. The problem with it that I am having is that I will need to change sanding disks frequently as I go from course to fine working on soft redwood, and this pad does something to the backing that I am only able to remove and put a sanding disk on two or if I am lucky three times before it will no longer adhere to the pad. I used premium 3M sanding disks that with the OEM pad that came with the sander I never had an issue removing and putting back on many. many times until the disk was worn down. Now I have nearly new useless disks. The old adage about getting what one pays for I think certainly applies here. I will be purchasing the OEM version today. While almost three times the price, the cost of wasting sanding disks will be far higher. The item was priced well, delivered promptly, and fit the machine as it should. I have not had a chance to use it yet, and the big test will be how well it holds on to a velcro sanding pad over time. I will update this review when I have used it for awhile. The pad that came on the machine only lasted 13 years and I used it to sand the ENTIRE interior of a 24 x 40 log home and more. (Do not hesitate to buy Makita. Very impressive products.) I hope this holds up as well.I had questions about these pads based on other customer feedback, but I have found them to be equal to those I have purchased from Makita. Fit well and well balanced.Easy to install. Haven't been able to use much so not quite sure how the velcro will hold up but hopefully it'll do great.Similar to customer rdm, the sander pad does NOT fit the Makita Random Orbit Sander BO5030 as advertised. The BO5030 calls for a Makita replacement hook 'n loop padI ordered this as a backup 30 August 2017. Perhaps the company has fixed this issue by now? Hopefully I will find out in the next few days.Update: Buckeye-ca's return policy is limited to 30 days. The company, so far, refuses to replace the pad or refund me.The photos below illustrate the difference between a properly fitting OEM replacement and the Buckeye-ca one. The Buckeye-ca pad centre indent is 1/8 of an inch smaller. I am not interested in replacing the Flat Washer 4 (part # 253739-6) with a smaller one or adding washers.Update early July 2019. Despite going back and forth with the sellers several times and providing photographs, the seller refused to refund me.Update 10 July 2019. Eureka! The company finally did refund me. Thank you! Thank you Amazon. The company is a small shop and quality control is difficult/expensive. As an economist, I get that. But as a customer, I am a little less sympathetic. For future customers, I would recommend checking the product immediately upon reception. You should be fine. The delivery is relatively quick. The product seems to be of good quality. It fits my Makita 5010 like a glove. Watch out for a small original disk that serves as a spacer to keep the pad from getting a tight fit with the static housing, thus preventing the pad from rotating freely. That what happened to me the first time I tried to put the new pad on, as I threw the old pad AND the spacer disk in the recycle bin. Luckily, I was able to retrieve it, and every thing works like a charm. Mind you, a couple of washers would do the trick.I do not know how well the new pad would hold the sand paper when in action against a rough surface to be sanded. Only time will tell. I might provide an update to this after using the pad on a few sanding jobsGreat quality. Unfortunately it did NOT fit my Makita 5030 model sander as advertised. The OEM part number of the pad was listed as equivalent to this product. The spindle cutout on the underside of the pad was too small and did not work. Always too much trouble and expensive to return an item like this, so it was a waste of money. I contacted supplier. They would have replaced it with a new one had I returned it. They couldn't explain WHY it didn't fit. I chose not to bother sending it back.Arrived quick. Fit like a glove and the sanding discs really sticking well to it. You have to really pull hard to remove the disc after it’s done. Works greatinstallation parfaite sur ma sableuse rotative hitachi aucune difficulté
